The Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival
Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime! Upon your arrival at Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport, our guides will be there to welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation at the Windhoek Country Lodge. When booking your flights, please plan to arrive during daylight hours, ideally before 5 PM. After checking into your hotel, you’ll have some free time to unwind and explore the capital city of Namibia at your own pace.
At 7 PM, we’ll gather at the hotel restaurant for a welcome dinner. Over a delicious meal, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with your fellow travelers while the guides outline the itinerary and plans for the upcoming days. This is your chance to get all the details and ask any questions before the workshop officially kicks off.
Day 2-3 - Etosha National Park
Over several days, we'll explore Etosha's unique terrain, from open savannahs to dense woodlands and waterholes that attract an impressive variety of wildlife. Your experienced guides, experts in both photography and local wildlife, will lead you to the park's best locations at optimal times, ensuring you’re in the right place to capture those magical moments. Whether it's the dramatic silhouettes of elephants at sunset, a pride of lions lounging under an acacia tree, or the delicate interplay of light and shadow on the park's sweeping landscapes, you’ll have countless opportunities to elevate your photography skills.
Day 4 - 5 - Swakopmund
On day 4, we'll head to Swakopmund, Namibia’s coastal gem, where adventure meets the stunning beauty of the Atlantic coast and the Namib Desert.
With the guidance of experienced photographers, you’ll venture into the heart of the Namib, photographing its towering sand dunes at sunrise and sunset, when the interplay of light and shadows creates an otherworldly atmosphere. Capture the surreal landscapes of Moon Valley, the iconic Welwitschia plants, and the striking contrasts where the desert meets the ocean.
Day 6 - 7 - Sossusvlei National Park
On our sixth day, we journey to one of Namibia’s most breathtaking destinations – Sossusvlei National Park. For the next three nights, we will settle into the eco-conscious Dead Valley Lodge, nestled against the serene mountains of the Namib-Naukluft National Park. This exclusive lodge offers sweeping views of the towering sand dunes and promises a truly immersive desert experience.
Our days here will be devoted to exploring the otherworldly beauty of Deadvlei, the desert’s ‘Dead Marsh.’ This ethereal white clay pan, encircled by striking red dunes, is home to the haunting remains of ancient trees, some dating back over 900 years. These skeletal relics create surreal and captivating photography opportunities, whether in isolation or gathered in clusters.
Thanks to our special permit, we’ll have early access to the National Park, arriving at Deadvlei before dawn. This private entry allows us to witness the transformation of the landscape as the first light softly illuminates the clay pan and centuries-old trees. The evolving daylight will continuously reshape the landscape, offering fresh perspectives and a wealth of unique compositions to capture throughout the day.
Day 8 - 9 - Landscapes of Lüderitz
During our next days, we’ll explore Lüderitz’s iconic locations, starting with the windswept coastline and its dramatic rocky shores, where the restless Atlantic waves crash against ancient granite. Capture the hauntingly beautiful Kolmanskop ghost town, a photographer’s paradise where abandoned houses slowly succumb to encroaching sand dunes. The interplay of light filtering through shattered windows, creating patterns on sand-filled rooms, offers an extraordinary opportunity for surreal and evocative photography.
Day 10 - Quiver Tree Forest
Our expedition continues with a journey to Keetmanshoop, the heart of southern Namibia. This charming town in the Karas Region serves as a gateway to the breathtaking Quiver Tree Forest. Here, thousands of these iconic aloe succulents dot the rugged, rocky landscape, offering endless photographic opportunities.
Amidst the towering quiver trees, which stand like ancient sentinels, we’ll capture the enchanting beauty of a clear, starlit night. As darkness falls, the remarkable silhouettes of these ‘upside-down’ trees will frame the majestic backdrop of the Milky Way, allowing us to create captivating night sky compositions that evoke the magic and solitude of this unique landscape.
Day 11 - Drive to Windhoek
On the eleventh day, after breakfast, we’ll pack up and make our way back to Windhoek. Once we arrive, we’ll check into our accommodations at the Windhoek Hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax and rejuvenate or to embark on a self-guided exploration of the city at your own pace.
In the afternoon, we’ll hold a post-processing session where our guides will assist you in editing the photos you’ve captured throughout the trip.
Day 12 - Departure
As your Namibian journey comes to a close, we hope your final day begins on a delightful note with a hearty breakfast. Afterward, we’ll arrange your transfer to Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport. Whether you’re heading home or continuing on to your next adventure, you’ll depart with newly honed photography skills and memory cards filled with breathtaking images from your extraordinary expedition in the deserts of Sub-Saharan Namibia.
